Even the Sun Stands Still
On receiving gifts and the moment before the turn.
I’ve always believed in magic.
And lately its been showing up everywhere.
A butterfly landed on my hand and stayed for two minutes.
A tarot reader told me to watch for coins. A stack appeared on my doorstep.
A stranger handed me a flower at the exact moment I said out loud that I wanted my cohort to feel joyful and supported.
If you’ve read this newsletter for long enough, you’ll know I’m mostly in my analytical brain — decoding data and explaining complex scientific concepts.
The problem with optimization is that it assumes that everything that matters can be measured, predicted and engineered towards an outcome. It’s push energy.
To counteract this, I try to leave room for meaning to come from signs that don’t explain themselves.
Today is the Summer Solstice. The word comes from sol — sun — and sistere — to stand still. It’s the longest day of the year, and ancient cultures treated it as a turning point.
The sun doesn't push past its peak. It stalls for a moment, right at the height of its power, before it continues down its path.
For the past six months, I have been tirelessly building my new practice, brick by brick. Every time I’ve gotten close to something real, it gets harder and slows down right before. My instinct has always been to do more.
I observe this in my high performing clients constantly. The closer they get to a goal, the more they feel it as resistance instead of proximity.
If the most powerful force of Nature knows how to stand still for a moment right before the big turn, so can I.

What a beautiful post! I am a total “signs” girl and love when those messages show up. 💚
