Sermorelin peptide therapy to boost energy and improve body composition

Welcome to Fridays with Celia!

Confession: I used to mock people who posted their workouts online. Now, I'm proudly one of them.

If you're new here (welcome to the hundreds who joined last week!), this is my weekly column where I’m currently sharing my body composition journey.

I get it — building biceps isn't everyone's thing. But considering we lose 3-5% of muscle mass each decade after 30, maybe you'll humor me and read further? Muscle is called the organ of longevity for a reason.

Today, I'm diving into peptide therapy and how I'm using this incredible biohack to achieve my muscle-building, fat-burning goals — one injection at a time.

In every client-trainer relationship, there's a moment when "I hate you" inevitably slips out, and today was that day. I laughed as I said it — in fairness, it was my fourth set of something brutal, with double the weight I started with. I see what you're up to, Kolton.

Surprisingly, I had a ton of energy today, despite my grueling schedule. Could it be the sermorelin? I reached out to my coach at Joi for some insight.

“Sermorelin helps the body release more human growth hormone. Early on, patients notice deeper sleep and more energy/mental clarity throughout the day. At around the 6-month mark of sermorelin therapy patients can reap the benefits of enhanced strength and muscle.”

— Jessica Dogert, Joi Women’s Wellness

I’ve been fascinated by peptides since last year, when I went rogue and used, “the Wolverine Stack,” to expedite the healing of my shoulder. Read my story [here].

Even though I am training hard, I’m open to any safe modality that helps my body do what it’s meant to, only faster and better. You can also listen to this podcast with Huberman and the OG doctor of peptides, Dr Craig Koniver, if you want to get super nerdy on the topic.

Week 3 Learnings:

  • Just when it gets easier, it gets harder.

That 35 lb kettlebell deadlift from last week’s video turned into a 53 lb one this week. Increasing weight as muscles adapt is one way to achieve progressive load, with the goal of improving strength and growth. I feel like a badass!

  • My energy levels are soaring but I definitely need more sleep.

I've noticed my energy is consistently high and steady, with extra in reserve. I can go from a packed day of meetings — usually draining — straight to the gym for heavy resistance training and even some sprints. However, I'm getting noticeably tired earlier, around 8:30 p.m., and need more sleep on training day. About 9 hours in bed, with 8 hours actually asleep.

  • Injecting sermorelin stings.

Here’s my specific protocol designed to burn fat and build muscle plus videos of how I prepare my peptides and where I inject them.
