Time's ultra-processed food fail, the corruption of US healthcare, and a next level infused olive oil
Dear Reader,
Things are heating up, and I don’t just mean the scorching temps in L.A (over 100 degrees in the shade 🥵). It’s no surprise that the big issues are getting louder during this volatile election year.
One of the most contentious debates is healthcare. We urgently need reform, and it will only happen if we recognize that public health, especially for our children, is a bipartisan issue.
To make informed decisions about our health, we must use critical thinking when evaluating media, clinical “research,” and even advice from our doctors. Nutrition and chronic disease information is often contradictory — and sadly that’s by design.
Take the recent flip-flop by Time magazine on ultra-processed foods. After their headline, “What if Ultra-Processed Foods Aren’t as Bad as You Think?” caused backlash in health and parenting circles, they softened their stance, calling it the opinion of one dietitian. Personally I don’t think we need another study to understand that our food is making us sicker, fatter, more depressed and infertile. Read their take HERE.
What are we supposed to believe? I encourage you all to keep asking questions, challenge opinions, stay curious, be open-minded, and advocate for yourself.
Substack feels less influenced by Big Food and Big Pharma since it’s community-supported. I’m inspired by the brave, passionate, and educated voices writing, podcasting, and fostering respectful dialogue on this platform, free from advertiser influence.
Thank you for reading mine.

P.S. I was interviewed on my first podcast, Gateways to Awakening, about how to achieve optimal health during midlife through blood sugar balance, biohacking and more! Grateful for the opportunity. 🎧

Americans Want to be Healthy
This podcast should make you mad but hopefully it wakes you up. Dr Casey Means and her brother Calley Means call out the corruption of our healthcare system by Big Food and Big Pharma. Their revelations are sobering yet their attitude is optimistic. A must-listen to understand why we need to act now to reverse the chronic disease epidemic.
Flavors from the Aegean
I’ve fallen hard for these infused extra virgin olive oils from Heraclea. These oils, made from hand-picked Turkish olives, are bursting with flavors like garlic, lemon or chili. A splash is all you need to finish any veggie dish or add some punch to a sauce or dressing.
BUY: Heraclea Cold Pressed EVOO (Code: INTHEPINK15)
