I rarely make plans on a Sunday because I love being at home.
It’s a day to nourish myself in all of the ways.
I shop the farmers market. I call my family. I make a beautiful plate of food.
Today has been particularly sunny and beautiful in LA so for most of the afternoon, I’ve been laying on my daybed doing absolutely nothing.
It reminded me about a quiet philosophy I come back to again and again, both for myself and with my clients.
Sometimes it’s best to do less, on purpose.
When it comes to health optimization, most people assume that I’m going to advocate for more: more supplements, more interventions, more action steps.
But, often the real impact and alignment comes from subtraction.
It’s a literal and metaphorical clearing of the clutter before we embark on a new program, protocol or journey. It’s harder than you think to strip away the old habits and things that no longer serve you. It’s hard to just be.
“Doing less” in service of your health can look like this:
Saying no faster, with no explanation needed
Allowing rest to be a strategy, not a reward
Swapping performance metrics for enjoyment metrics (laughter, joy & connection)
Focusing on the fundamentals (sleep, food, sunlight) instead of the fixes
Letting go of rigid rules to embrace a lifestyle
Not over-performing, over-training, over-optimizing
I named this Substack after the old saying, “I hope this finds you in the pink,” meaning healthy, happy and very much alive.
That’s the energy I want to send your way today — a reminder to quiet the noise so you can invite in only what matters.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, the sun is still out — and I plan to stay exactly where I am.

Well said, Celia! It is way easier to do more than to do less, and do those few things well. As a recipe curator I’ve also learned this is true with quality meals!
Love this so much! One of my favorites.
