I was just having a conversation with a girlfriend (49) who was lamenting about feeling sluggish and having brain fog. She was so upset with herself, assuming she was doing something wrong. When I said that the brain fog of menopause/peri menopause is a real thing, she was shocked! She said she had no idea and needed to learn more about menopause, as she’d never really heard anything. So, so many women are in this same position because for all of time it’s been a taboo subject to talk about. Kudos to you and all my fellow GenX-ers who are saying ‘Enough!’ and shedding light on something we will alllllll go through!!!

Hormone balance at any age is super important but during perimenopause, which can start during our 30's, means that we are more susceptible to having symptoms. Chronic stress, sedentary lifestyle and inflammatory/high glycemic foods just add fuel to the fire. The good news is that there is so much you can do with diet and lifestyle, even before you consider hormone replacement therapy (which is important for heart, brain and bone health regardless if you have symptoms or not). I'm hopeful that more companies will offer all kinds of health optimization support including menopause support, considering we spend 80% of our lives at work.
