Thank you for sharing this. The manufactured & gratuitous dance off between Pilates and strength training is making me stabby. I do both and find no truth in the disparagement of it as “non exercise” and “easy.” A lot of the comments are pretty age-ist too, imho.
Right? Wellness is getting a little too tribal in my opinion! Do what brings you joy and what you can sustain consistency. If you want to see if your work out is working, get a DEXA scan to check if you are actually building muscle and protecting your bones!
I talk to friends about my non-tech, no-spend biohacks a lot. Water first thing in the morning, get out into the sunlight as quickly as possible, have a bedtime routine that gets you (at least close to) 8 hours, etc. I’d love to see a post where you talk about a bunch of these ‘hacks’ that you use (and that the blue zones seem to innately know)!
Yes there are biohacks that are actually ancient practices that can support our body’s natural processes like heat or cold exposure, even sex! I go through them in this post https://celiawchen.substack.com/p/the-future-of-biohacking
I tend to bounce around based on the topic or guest but these are in high rotation:
Peter Attia's The Drive, Dr Chatterjee's Feel Better, Live More, Yasmin Nouri's Behind Her Empire, Dr Kelly Casperson's You are not broken, The Rich Roll Podcast, and Good Hang with Amy Poehler (because sometimes you need to just hear comedians being ridiculous instead of learning more about health!)
